Recourse Classes: Japanese

Hey guys!  Today, I will be talking about one of my recourse classes: Japanese.  I learned a lot in Japanese.  We learn Japanese, sometimes play a game (I forget what it’s called), and fold cranes when we are done with all our work.  Japanese is fun, but some people can get a bit out of hand, which can get annoying.  One of my best works is a paper I wrote about my family.  I wrote about them and drew a picture after.  I don’t have a picture of it.  Sorry.  It was about them and their hobbies.

Well, that’s all for now!

Resource Classes: Life Skills

Hey guys!  Today I will be talking about one of my resource classes: Life Skills.  I like Life Skills.  We talk about life and sometimes play games.  One of my best works was: Debate Yourself and Lose.  Here’s what I wrote:

  1. Mom and dad:
  • Old beliefs: I thought my parents were very strict for no reason
  • New beliefs: I figured out that they did it so i could get good grades and get a good job.
  1. Adults in general:
  • Old beliefs: When I was little, I thought all adults were the same.
  • New beliefs: All adults have different personalities and act differently under certain circumstances.
  1. Relationships with your brother(s) and/or sister(s):
  • Old beliefs: I thought having a little sister wasn’t going to be hard work.
  • New beliefs: It is a lot of hard work, especially when she bothers me a lot.
  1. Friends:
  • Old beliefs: Friends are nice people and they make you happy and be there for you.
  • New beliefs: Friends make your life better in so many ways.
  1. Academic career:
  • Old beliefs: Get good grades.
  • New beliefs: Get good grades so I can get into a better school.
  1. Future:
  • Old beliefs: I was just going to be an adult
  • New beliefs: I need to do good in school so i can get a good job and earn money.
  1. Teachers:
  • Old beliefs: They just teach us things.
  • New beliefs: They teach us things that we may use later during our life.
  1. Enemies:
  • Old beliefs: Don’t like them
  • New beliefs: Still don’t like them.

Well, that’s all for now!

Resource Classes: Art

Hey guys!   Today I will be talking about one of my resource classes: Art!  Art is fun.  We get to draw, paint, and sketch. This year, some of the things I have drawn are a  pixel cat with a fire background, a cat silhouette, a cat that was supposed to be a cat silhouette… Me at computer thinking: Wow… I really drew a lot of random cat stuff…   Anyway… The best thing I have drawn would probably be my pixel cat with the fire background.  I can’t show it here, but maybe I’ll show it in a later post.

Well, that’s all for now!

Core Classes: Social Studies

Hey guys!  Today I will be talking about one of my core classes: Social Studies.  We do a lot of stuff in Social Studies.  We read, do a lot of presentations, and learn about history.  I don’t really have a best project I did, because I have done a lot of projects.  One of my best is the All I Asking For is My Body alternative ending.  This is what I wrote:

In January 1943, the Army asked for 1,500 nisei volunteers.  We would form an all-nisei regiment with volunteers from the mainland and be allowed to fight in Europe.

“You shouldn’t volunteer,” mother said at the dinner table.  “Toshio hasn’t been helpful as the number one son, and we’re depending on you to help the family.  Do you understand?”

“Every family should send at least one son,” I said.

“But you’re our only son now.  We’re poor.  Poor families have to be careful.  Acting as an individual is something we can’t afford.”

The next day, I decided to not sign up.  I could help the family in the plantation.   I ran into “Crisco” while I was walking around.

“Are you going to sign up?” “Crisco” asked.

“No.  I go stay and help my parents,” I replied.  “How ‘bout you?  You going to sign up?”

“I want to go, but my kid brother already going, so I stay and help the family.”

Since it was Sunday, and there was no work, I decided to go to the community quarters and watch the guys play craps.  I sat on the railing as I watched their game.  During the game, one guy started asking me questions.

“Hey, Kiyo! You play craps before?”

“No.”

“You wanna learn how?”

“No thanks.  I’ll just watch.”

“Ok, then.”

After the game, I walked home. I was greeted by Tosh.

“Kiyo! Did you sign up?”

“No.”

“Why not? I told you: No go fall for her sob story.  She goin’ hold you to your samurai’s word.”

“I don’t care.  I need to help pay off the debt.”

“Yeah, but you could have still joined the army.”

“No, mama and papa need me here.”

Tosh sighed.  “Whatever,” he mumbled as he walked away.

The next few years I continued to work on the plantation.  We finally paid off the debt.  After that, Tosh decided to go pro and I went to all his matches and sometimes competed.

Well, that’s all!

Core Classes: Science

Hey guys! Today, I will be talking about one of my core classes: Science

Science is fun.  We get to do experiments and go in the garden.  The best thing I did in science was probably my Moli Bolus report. This is what I wrote:

  1. Investigative Question: What will I find in a moli bolus?
  2. Hypothesis: If I examine the contents of a moli bolus, then I will find 70% plastic and 30% undigested ocean animal because sometimes the moli bird will think that plastic is a fish egg.  They might think it is a fish egg because the plastic might be shiny like the fish eggs.
  1. Method
  1. Materials:
  • Bolus
  • Fork/Skewer
  • Paper layout
  1. Procedure
  1. Open the paper with the bolus.
  2. Use the tool to separate the items inside the bolus.
  3. Separate the items into natural items and unnatural items.
  4. Try to figure out what the unnatural items are.
  1. Findings

Man-made Items in Bolus

  1. Plastic
  2. Glass
  3. Fishing Line
  4. Gum

Non Man-made Items in Bolus

  1. Squid Beaks
  2. Rocks
  3. Shells
  4. Feathers
  1. Conclusion

In the bolus, I found many unnatural and natural items.  Some natural items I found are feathers, squid beaks, shells, and feathers.  The unnatural items I found were plastic, glass, fishing line, and some gum.  The albatross eats the plastic and glass thinking it’s fish eggs because it’s shiny, like fish eggs.  Sometimes they eat fishing line because sometimes the fish eggs get stuck inside the fishing line.

In conclusion, my hypothesis is correct because I thought that albatross birds eat mostly plastic.  They think the plastic is fish eggs because it is shiny, like the fish eggs that it eats.  They also have some glass and fishing line because the moli bird would eat it thinking it was fish eggs.  They also have many squid beaks in the bolus, because squids and fish eggs are the two main food items that they eat.

  1. Real Life Connections:

I recommend that we use reusable items such as metal water bottles or plates that you can wash instead of paper ones you just throw away.  Using non biodegradable objects will reduce the amount of plastic in the ocean, which helps the albatross have a better diet.

Observations Pie Chart:

I also made a pie chart, but it didn’t show here.

Well, that’s it!

Core Classes: Math

Hey guys!  Today I will be talking about one of my core classes: Math.  Or… Pre-Algebra.  Anyway, in Math, we play games (logic games), do projects, and do lots and lots of… Math.  The best thing I have ever done in Math, would probably be the Math Magazine assignment we did as a group.  I was working with Skye, Breydon, and Skylar.  We made our own math magazine called Math Press.  We wrote math problems for Star Wars, the history of anime, Warriors, the false missile alert, doctors, and the A Wrinkle in Time movie.   I think we did great.  I can’t show it to you guys, but it kinda looks like a Math Magazine.

Well, that’s all for now!

Core Classes: LA

Hey guys!  Today I will be talking about one of my core classes: Language Arts, or LA for short.  We do a lot of things in LA, such as edublogs, essays, and a lot of other things.  One of my best works, was probably the “Would You Get A Flip Phone?”: Argument Essay.  I remember doing this a loooong time ago.  I wrote this:

Did you know that children ages 8-12 spend about four hours a day on their smartphones?  That’s the equivalent of two months a year!  Besides, smartphones are better because they have Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and you can download anything, right?  However, smartphones aren’t always the best option.  An increasing number of people are getting rid of their smartphones and using flip phones instead.  Some people think smartphones can help you with everyday problems, as well as reduce stress, organize your schedule, and find lots of information.  Should you get a flip phone?  I think so because flip phones can help you with things even a smartphone can’t help you with.

A good thing about flip phones is that it is cheaper than smartphones, so you don’t have to pay a lot of money for one.  You also don’t have to save up a lot of money for one.  On page 11, it states that Janey paid $27 for a flip phone while a smart phone costs $650.  That can save you a lot more money than buying a smartphone.

Flip phones also don’t have any apps.  On page 11, it states that flip phones don’t have Instagram or any other app, unlike smartphones.  That means you can enjoy your time free from distractions and pressure to be doing something else.  Plus, smartphones can cause stress.  On page 11, it also states that being bombarded with social media notifications can be stressful, and pull your attention from anything else you’re doing.

It’s true that smartphones can do more things than flip phones.  They can do things like post things on Instagram, or play games, and research things.  On page 11, it states that when used responsibly, smartphones can help you relax, organize your schedule, and find information.  That is true, and you can also use smartphones to kill time.  They also allow you to stream music.

As you can see, both flip phones and smartphones are equally great, but I think you should get a flip phone.  Flip phones are a lot cheaper than smartphones, so you don’t have to save a lot of money.  Flip phones also don’t have Instagram or any other apps.  That means that you don’t get bombarded with messages, which causes stress.  Do you think you should get a flip phone?

What do you guys think?

Computer Games

Hey guys!  Today, I will be talking about computer games.  Computer games are fun, and here are a lot of them.  Some can be fun or some can be educational.  I’ve had a lot of experience from computer games.

My experiences:

Well, I have had A LOT of computer game experience.  I have been playing computer games since I was three.  Yes, three.  One of the computer games I played while I was three was called: Kindergarten World.  All I remember from that game was there were humanoid, talking, animals.  The main one was a dog.  They taught you about the things you learn in kindergarten while making it a game.  And guess what happened when I finished Kindergarten World?  I PLAYED FIRST GRADE WORLD (or something like that…)

Another game I played when I was three… Was this:

I’M NOT LYING!  I actually DID play World of Warcraft when was three.  My parents recorded me playing.  I was only three, so I was really bad at it.  I probably just ran around, fight low level monsters, and talked to NPCs for no reason.  I don’t really remember anything else, but I had fun playing it.

I found a website explaining World of Warcraft here.

Crazy Story

Hey guys! I’m going to tell you a crazy storySo, last Saturday, there was a HUGE storm near my house.  There was lots of water and lots of thunder and lightning.  I was just playing Minecraft, when all of a sudden we heard what sounded like an explosion!  The computer I was using turned off and we started smelling smoke.  LIGHTNING HIT OUR HOUSE.  My sister, dad, and I started running around the house to see if  there was a fire.  My dad went outside and we found out that the lightning hit our wind turbine (We have turbines on the roof of our house that do nothing).  Turns out, the wind turbine acted as a lightning rod.  The metal pipe it was connected to went through our garage.  The lightning hit the carbon-fiber turbine…wing…things… Well, I learned two things from that experience: 1. Life is short.  Anything can happen so make the most of it.  2. Those wind turbines are good for something after all!
